Mix by Mason
Welcome Earthlings to this, my Musical Story, yes. I spent many rainy evenings swatting bugs off of my computer screen, all the other lights in the house long turned off, sacrificing their little lives in pursuit of a greater good. I bid you listen to this mix the way you listen to the sounds of nature, the sound of a baby’s first laugh, or the sound of Marcy being sensitive - with an open mind and true compassion. For to be completely in the present moment, completely perceptive and purely receptive a deep receiver of all that is...is to exists as pure compassion.
THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR MIXES. EACH OF YOU HAS BROUGHT ME SO MUCH HAPPINESS. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT HAPPEN.

2. Eliot Lipp - Rap Tight
Entry music: you know when that dude walks in the room and everyone is like, THAT is the dude I want to be (if you don’t know that dude just think Ben Charlier-Matthews, Lawrence Walters, or David Watts). This is the music that is playing while that happens. Then he orders a Manhattan, two cherries.
3. Lemon Jelly - Page One
“No living thing, no plant or tree, no bird or animal, nothing, this is before people, before anything at all, a void, sitting silent, still...and then...nothing...”
4. Miami Horror - I Look to You
This is what you might call a feelgood song, because it makes you feeel goood. Dance party in your house by yourself. Check this video out too, same band, the whole album: Illumination is really good, but this video takes the cake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF8dt1hpZ9M
5. The Beta Band - Lion Thief
Heroes to Zeroes is an underrated album, most people just know the song “Dry the Rain”. The Beta Band has so much to offer. Other great albums to listen to while you’re getting a massage or driving home from the mountain after a hike are: The Three E.P.’s and Hot Shots II.
6. West Indian Girl - Trip
7. Local Natives - Who Knows Who Cares
If you don’t fall in love with the song the first time you hear it, then check this link out and I promise you’ll like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hhE_sqJG3g Also, the whole album Gorilla Manor is stellar if you like their vibrations.
8. Matthew Dear - I Can’t Feel
Grungy, minimal. If this song were a shot it would be 1 part Pat Dansky, 2 parts Dan Smith. Served on fire without a straw.
9. Delorean - Stay Close
Everybody subconsciously searches for songs like this to play when they wake up. With this song every morning is a good morning.
10. Matt and Kim - Cameras
Ok, I know it’s a little poppy and ridiculous but if I said I don’t dig pop I’d be a fucking liar.
11. TV On the Radio - Will Do
12. Mean Lady - Lonely
“It’s almost over, the time when we’re not together, I feel it getting better all the time. And what if it takes too long? What if it takes too long and I’m lonely? How can it break me and make me so strong? What if it takes too long?” This is my jam right now.
13. Bonobo - Ketto
See Album: Days to Come. AMAZING ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
14. Alphabeat - What is Happening
“So whose fault is it anyway, don't say, we don't know, we both know that we made a mistake. It's hard to live together forever, well, that's what they say, we still regret what we said, what we said.”
15. Pantyraid - Beba
Turn up the headphones people, do justice to the bass. Even Jesus digs the bass.
16. Ghostland Observatory - Silver City
You’re driving through the woods, there’s a lake on your right, surrounded by pines all around. All your friends are asleep in the car, it was a long night. Thank god we’re out of the city and back home. But you have not regrets, you have to see the city to know that you don’t belong.
17. No Regular Play - Owe Me (Nicolas Jaar Mix)
I debated for a long time whether or not to put this on the mix. Some people say when in doubt throw it out...good decision to keep it?
18. Jurassic 5 - Work It Out
Mason, you magnificent beast. This mixtape is all the way great. It's been a big ball of light illuminating this grey spring/fall in the PNW. Last month you wrote in a g-chat with me "Mason: so i'm kinda modeling my mix after yours". Well if that's true, you done changed the game, you done changed the game.
